ANDREW BARNICLE WILL STAR IN DAVID RAMBO'S THE ICE-BREAKER

Production Also Stars Monette Magrath; Art Manke Directs

JANUARY 2, 2007 - LAGUNA BEACH, CALIFORNIA – The Laguna Playhouse is pleased to announce that its Southern California Premiere production of The Ice-Breaker, will star Andrew Barnicle, the theatre’s artistic director.  Joining him onstage in the two-character play is Monette Magrath, who appeared in the Laguna Playhouse production of The Laramie Project in 2003.

In The Ice-Breaker, a reclusive former scientist who abandoned his career to live in the Arizona desert and cultivate an interest in Anasazi pottery is tracked down by a Ph.D. student who has based her dissertation on his early research in global warming and seeks his endorsement. Intellectual and romantic sparks fly in this play by David Rambo, who won national acclaim for his play God’s Man in Texas and who is a co-producer and writer for CBS’s CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.  The production is being directed by Art Manke.

In The Ice-Breaker, he will be joined by Monette Magrath.  Her Los Angeles theatre credits include: Phebe in As U Lyk It: A California Concoction, Violet, Zuzu, and others in It’s a Wonderful Life, Sibyl in Private Lives, Lady Caroline Bramble in Enchanted April, and Mme. de Tourvel in Les Liaisons Dangereuses all at Pasadena Playhouse; Ann in All My Sons for McCoy Rigby Entertainment, Abigail in Safe in Hell at South Coast Rep (Playwright’s Festival), and Natasha in the World Premiere of The Rehearsal at Walt Disney Concert Hall with the LA Philharmonic.
